If theres one dish I like, it's noodles. So filling, easy to flavour well and quick when ordered. So what's better than a noodle dish? a spicy noodle dish (of course). Which is the namesake of this medium-sized bristro. Known as the Spicy Noodle Cafe. It serves up many of my favourite dishes such as penang beef, chilli fried rice and chicken laksa.

After selecting your meal from the large menu signs mounted on the walls (some with pictures), ordering and payment is at the front counter. Today I asked for a no. 24  "Golden prawn noodles" (pictured).  Once ordered you get a slip, kind of like a raffle ticket and park yourself at a free table. The number gets called out by the waiter/waitress, when it's ready. Today it took approx. 10 minutes, which is what I find usually, except for Fridays.

The dish itself was presented with saucy noodles on a bed of lettuce with the sauce tasting mildly spicy with a faint but pleasant sweet flavour. Cost today was $10.90 (excluding drink). Cutlery is strictly help yourself along with as much chilli sauce you can carry from the front counter.

So for a cheap and cheerful meal pop on down to 198 Latrobe Street, Melbourne CBD.
